The results were supposed to be out on 22nd June as per the Government of India’s official result portal.
However, the message was withdrawn from the portal in the noon, creating confusion and anger among students. Many students showed their anger on the social networking sites.
About 11.5 lakh students appeared in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), held on 7th May. Originally, the results were supposed to be out on 8th June.
A number of petitions were filed asking to cancel the medical entrance examination that led to the delay in NEET results. On 24th May, the Madras High Court stayed any proceedings related to the NEET 2017 results. This resulted in delays in the OMR sheet and release of the answer key. The answer key was later released by the CBSE on 15th June and put up on the website till 16th June.
However, on 12th June, CBSE filed a plea in the Supreme Court. The stay on the proceedings of any activity of NEET 2017 by the Madras High Court was overruled and the board was directed to release the results of NEET 2017 by 26th June
